BELOW IS A TRUNCATED VERSION OF THEIR ONLINE ANNOUNCEMENT:

Edgy. Raw. Dynamic. Urban Art comes to Downtown Fayetteville


Yes, there will be spray paint. But the Arts Council's edgy (and even raw) exhibition featuring urban artists goes well beyond graffiti. Urban Art: Expressions of an Environment includes art from a broad scope of artists from across the country. The artwork represents urban social commentary, urban rebellious sub-text, use of urban material (sculpture), interpretation of the urban environment, the urban environment as a distinct place and space, and more.

Artists living in Fayetteville include Aaron Wallace, Eric Longley, Jihad Z. Ali, Michael Romagano and Lovell Pulley.

Artists invited from across the country are Percy Fortini-Wright (Massachusetts), JooYoung Choi (Texas) and Senghor Reid (Michigan), Kevan Foust (California) and Abezash Tamerat (Maryland).

This exhibition will be open at the Fayetteville/Cumberland County Arts Council and continues through July 19. 

Arts Council galleries are located at 301 Hay Street, Fayetteville, NC. Admission is free.

Gallery Hours:

Monday - Thursday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Friday: 9 a.m. to noon
Saturday: noon to 4 p.m.
